Why Truly Against The Grain?
In my 1913 brick home, oak graces the floors, windows, and doors. Downstairs, an old ShopSmith, like the one my grandpa owned, stands ready. With this 30-year-old machine, some hand tools, and creativity, raw wood takes shape, transforming it into handcrafted treasures. The beauty of these items is watching a scrap piece of wood transform into handcrafted wooden pens when a chisel, sandpaper, and polish goes against the grain of the wood.
